Competition Entry is FREE!!!Our 48th Annual Commercial Wine Competition will be held on June 1-2, 2024. We invite all California wineries to participate in this prestigious event!The OC Fair Wine Competition is co-hosted by the Orange County Wine Society (OCWS) and the OC Fair & Event Center. This is the largest and most comprehensive judging of California wines in the world. Only wines produced from grapes grown in California are judged including still, fortied, infused, and sparkling wines. No fee is charged; wineries must enter six (6) bottles per entry. Limited production wineries (< 1000 cases/yr) should contact us for entry details.Each year approximately 90 judges taste over 2,900 wines with over 130 varietals and styles in categories classied by price and sugar level. JUDGINGJudging will take place June 1-2, 2024 and will be performed by panels of commercial winemakers and winery principals. Judging is conducted “double-blind.” Neither the judges nor those pouring the wines know the identity of the wine being evaluated.AWARDSMedals will be awarded to Double Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. Double Gold and Gold winners will receive numeric scores based on the 100 point system. Double Gold winners will also receive plaques and Best of Class winners will also receive glass statues. All of these awards make a great addition to any tasting room. Each award-winning wine will be featured on our website WineCompetition.com for a year. WINE LABEL & BOTTLE COMPETITIONConsumers often base their wine purchases on label and bottle designs. Entries to this commercial wine competition are eligible for free entry into the label and bottle design competition as well. Entrants should submit 3 actual labels for each competition entry. If physical copies of the labels are not available, a digital le may be uploaded for each label. Actual labels are preferred for the judges to fully appreciate the richness of their colors as well as the impact of any special eects. Silk screened designs are best viewed on an actual bottle, but may be previewed from digital images.The rst, second, and third place winners of each of the 11 categories are chosen by wine judges, vintners and OCWS members. Throughout the year, the OC Wine Society features many wineries in their programming. One of the OCWS goals is to provide scholarships for college students in the elds of enology, viticulture, and culinary arts. The organization has awarded over $780,000 in scholarships to students at 8 California colleges and universities.Entering your wines into the annual OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition provides your brand with direct public exposure to the Southern California wine market while also raising funds for scholarships which help to support and sustain the wine industry. During the OC Fair, all entries will be available at the Wine Courtyard for the public to taste. In 2023 more than 27,000 servings were poured by OCWS volunteers.
